But everything changed the day Skeleton walked into our class — tall, dark, with that smile that made even the strictest teacher forget her rules π .
“Ngabe unjani Nana?” he said the first time he spoke to me.
His voice was deep, calm… and I swear, my heart skipped a beat.
From that day, he’d walk me home after school, carrying my books like a real gentleman.
People started teasing, saying “Nana noSkeleton bayathandana”, but I’d just smile.
We used to sit by the school field, watching soccer practice, talking about dreams.
He wanted to be a DJ, “I’ll be the next Kabza,” he said, and I believed him.
But then things changed… Skeleton started skipping class, hanging with new friends, always smelling of smoke.
“Nana, ngizok’phendula after exams,” he’d say when I asked what’s wrong.
The day I saw him with another girl behind the tuck shop, laughing like we never existed... my heart broke. π
That night, I deleted all our chats, but I couldn’t delete the memories.
Sometimes I still hear his voice when I pass that field — “Nana, you know I got you, neh?”
I just smile now… but inside, I whisper, “You had me once, Skeleton, and you lost me forever.” π’
